David Windfeldt, Managing Partner

David’s career has focused on finance, real estate, asset management and strategy consulting.

Prior to forming the Private Company, David worked for the John Madden Company (JMC), a national full-service real estate development and management company.  As CFO, David oversaw all financial operations of the company and was directly responsible for raising over $200 million in debt and equity investments.   At JMC, David was involved in property management, leasing, land entitlements and development, serving on various boards and special districts created by the development company.

While at JMC, David also served as Personal CFO to a prominent Denver family, handling personal finances, coordinating the establishment of a charitable foundation, estate plans and trusts; evaluating and monitoring investments in operating companies; managing cash and private banking relationships; and facilitating family meetings and communications.

Prior to JMC, David worked for First Data Corporation, reporting to the Chief Investment Officer in the company’s portfolio management group, which held in excess of $10 billion of bonds and derivative securities. Previously, David worked for the Answerthink Consulting Group, a global strategic advisory firm, providing best practice and transformation consulting services. David began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, in the Financial Advisory Services division.

David graduated cum laude with a BS degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  He earned his MBA, with distinction, from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.  David holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a licensed associate broker in the state of Colorado.

Karin Harms Phillips, Director

Karin’s career has focused in the accounting, audit and finance fields.

Her prior experience included working as Controller at John Madden Company where she was responsible for managing the accounting and financial systems and records, overseeing the financial audit and compilations, preparing the monthly management financial reports, and managing accounts payable, receivable and payroll functions.   Prior to JMC, Karin worked at Thompson Creek Metals, a copper, gold and molybdenum mining company, focused on leading the corporate budget, forecast and executive management financial reports, performing internal Sarbanes-Oxley testing and preparing footnote disclosures.   She also held several roles at MillerCoors Brewing Company within the accounting, finance and marketing departments with a focus on point-of-sale pricing, sales and market mix analysis, price promotions, inventory, project capital expenditures and the accounting policy development.

Karin started her accounting career at Arthur Andersen by implementing audit plans for public and not-for-profit companies ranging with a concentration in the manufacturing, not-for-profit, banking and healthcare industries.

Karin graduated with highest honors from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting and a minor in International Business.
